About Active Youth NI

Active Youth NI is a not for profit, Community Interest Company, dedicated to empowering children and young people through inclusive non-sport specific physical activity to support physical, mental and social wellbeing. Delivering a range of programmes and services, we work with schools, communities and families to create positive, inclusive environments where

young people can thrive. As we continue to develop and promote our event provision, we are looking to recruit an enthusiastic and experienced Event Coach to join our delivery team. Our event provision brings together physical activity through, mindful movement, music, games and challenges into community and youth settings, creating positive experiences that encourage children and young people to be active, confident and involved.

The Role

The Event Coach will be responsible for delivering engaging, inclusive and energetic physical activity sessions and events for children and young people, while ensuring activities are delivered safely and professionally. The role will particularly suit someone who is confident leading large groups through movement-to-music, follow-along activities, mindful movement, games and interactive challenges. This is a freelance/ad hoc role with opportunities offered depending on our event programme.

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver fun, inclusive and engaging physical activity sessions and events for children and young people while maintaining high levels of energy and enthusiasm throughout sessions.

  • Lead large groups confidently through movement-to-music, mindful movement and follow-along activities by communicating instructions in a clear, positive and engaging manner.

  • Deliver a range of games, challenges and physical activities to participants and adapt activities appropriately depending on the abilities, venue, environment and participant needs.

  • Encourage participation and create a fun, inclusive environment where all children and young people feel comfortable getting involved.

  • Use sound systems, music and head microphones to support large-group delivery, including set-up and tidy-up of equipment and activity areas.

  • Follow Active Youth NI's safeguarding, health and safety and operational procedures.

Essential

  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to lead and engage with large groups.

  • Confident demonstrating movements and activities to a group and can adapt activities to suit different ages, abilities and group sizes.

  • Has a positive, enthusiastic and professional approach.

  • Is reliable, punctual and able to work independently.

  • Minimum of a Level 2 Coaching qualification, a recognised Teaching qualification, or equivalent relevant to the role.

  • Access to transport to support programme coordination across various locations.

Desirable

  • Experience delivering physical activity, movement-to-music/mindful movement/follow-along style activities or similar, to children and/or young people.

  • Previous experience delivering large-scale physical activity events, working in schools, community settings or youth programmes and knowledge of inclusive physical activity, working with diverse groups of children and/or young people.

  • Experience using sound systems, speakers and/or head microphones. (Although desirable, training will be provided were necessary)

  • Relevant coaching qualifications.

  • First Aid qualification.
