Decathlon teams up with Active Youth NI

Active Youth NI announces an exciting new partnership with Decathlon which will bolster their shared mission to change children’s lives through physical activity.

February 12, 2024 — The world’s largest retailer, Decathlon, has partnered with local community organisation, Active Youth NI, to increase accessible opportunities for all children and young people to get active. Delivering innovative, non-sport specific sessions that are designed to improve physical, mental, and social wellbeing.

To celebrate the launch of this brand-new partnership, the public are invited to come along to ‘The Schools Challenge’ in Decathlon, Belfast on Saturday 24th February to be in with the chance of winning fantastic individual prizes as well as prizes for their school.

Commenting on the partnership, Joni Rock, Director, Active Youth NI, said;

“Northern Ireland is recorded as having the lowest levels of physical activity in the United Kingdom.

“Active Youth NI feels passionate about changing the lives of local children and empowering them to reach their full potential for a lifetime of healthy living. This partnership is a huge opportunity to further our work and we are delighted and grateful to partner with a company that shares our vision to make physical activity accessible to all! We look forward to launching this exciting partnership with our Schools Challenge event – a fun, active event that is open to all abilities!’

Matthew Ferguson, Communications Manager, Decathlon, said;

“We are proud to support a local company with such a great sporting initiative that aligns with our core mission to make sports accessible to everyone. We recognise the importance of introducing physical and mental activities at an early age and hope that this partnership, alongside our recent ‘Decathlon for Schools’ catalogue will enable more people to experience this. We look forward to celebrating the partnership in our store at Holywood Exchange Retail Park during the first ever ‘Schools Challenge’ event on Saturday 24th February”.

Decathlon is a family-owned company, founded in 1976, and inspired by the belief that the best sports products should be accessible to everyone.

“Ever-evolving and high-performance design, the best quality at the lowest possible price, and expert advice that customers of all ages, backgrounds and skill levels can access in-store or online, from anywhere, at any time, is what makes us who we are. And we’re pretty proud of that.” For more information on Decathlon visit www.decathlon.co.uk/
