Business Development & Fundraising Officer
Location: Mainly within the Ards, North Down Area however the postholder may be required to work across, Greater Belfast, and camp venues
Location: Working from home, however the post holder will be required to attend meetings within the North Down Region
Hours: 20 hours per week (working hours TBA)
Contract: Temporary for 2 years including 6 month probationary period
Salary: £30,000 FTE → £17,142 for 20 hrs/week

We are seeking a Business Development & Fundraising Officer to help sustain and grow our work by leading on bid and fundraising applications, building supporter relationships, and raising awareness of our mission through effective communications.
Purpose of Role
The Business Development & Fundraising Officer will play a key role in generating income and supporting the growth of Active Youth NI. They will support on researching and writing funding applications, support donor and partner relationships, and deliver communications (including social media) that showcase the impact of our work.
As this is a part-time role in a small team, the post-holder will need to be highly motivated, organised, and adaptable, with a passion for improving opportunities for children.
Key Responsibilities
Fundraising & Income Generation
Research, identify, and apply to relevant grant and funding opportunities.
Prepare high-quality funding and tender applications, working closely with senior staff to align bids with organisational priorities.
Track deadlines and reporting requirements, ensuring timely submission of applications and reports.
Support small-scale fundraising initiatives, campaigns, and events.
Development & Partnerships
Maintain and develop positive relationships with funders, donors, and partners.
Support the Head of Business Development & Fundraising in identifying and cultivating new income streams.
Record and monitor fundraising activity, outcomes, and impact.
Communications & Engagement
Support with the development of engaging content for social media channels and website.
Share stories and case studies that highlight the impact of our work with children.
Contribute to newsletters, reports, and external communications to raise awareness and support.
General
Contribute to the wider organisational strategy and team culture.
Uphold safeguarding and data protection standards at all times.
Any other duties reasonable to the role and agreed with line manager.
Person Specification
Essential
Commitment and knowledge of to the mission of improving opportunities for children.
Minimum 3 years experience of writing successful fundraising and / or tender applications or supporting income generation.
Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Ability to manage multiple priorities, meet deadlines, and work independently.
Experience managing social media or digital communications.
Desirable
Experience of working in a small charity, CIC, or community organisation.
Knowledge of local funding opportunities in Northern Ireland (or UK-wide if relevant).
Demonstrable experience in partnership building or stakeholder engagement.
Digital marketing skills.
