Funded Programmes

We aim to tackle inequity and ensure all children have access to regular physical activity to improve their physical, mental and social wellbeing.

As a Community Interest Company our mission is to transform a generation of young people’s physical, mental and social wellbeing by delivering innovative, physical activity sessions to boost access, opportunity and vital skills to children and young people for a lifetime of healthy living.

Active Youth NI focus their funded support on four key groups, children and young people;

  • From deprived backgrounds

  • With learning or physical disabilities

  • From rural areas

  • Girls

All groups are statistically less likely to participate in physical activity and/or have least opportunities to participate.

We are currently running three funded programmes:

  1. Active for All

  2. Active Together

  3. Active & Able

Active for All supports children and young people from deprived backgrounds, when so many don’t have the opportunities to get active outside the school environment.

Active Together is our cross community programme - bringing together children and young people from different backgrounds / cultures / religions through fun, physical activity and team building exercises!

Active & Able is our fantastic new service, currently funded by the National Lottery. Disabled children and young people are often overlooked when it come to physical activity. We are on a mission to bridge that gap in provision and ensure all children, regardless of their ability can participate and enjoy the huge benefits that physical activity brings.

All our sessions are non-sport specifIc reinforcing inclusivity and accessibility for all regardless of their gender, socio-economic status, background, or experiences outside of school. Our sessions will finish with ‘mindful movement’; incorporating elements of mindfulness and yoga to support children’s learning and taking a holistic approach to their wellbeing.

We utilise any surplus made from our services and we regularly apply for grants and contracts to support us to do more for children across Northern Ireland, please get in touch to find out more.
