Head Coach

Location: Mainly within the Ards, North Down Area however the postholder may be required to work across, Greater Belfast, and camp venues  
Hours: Part-time – on average 15 hours per week. Hours vary, with longer hours during school holidays and fewer hours during term time.   
Contract: Fixed Term Contract for 2 years including 6-month probationary period 
Salary: £23,000 per annum (pro rata) 
Reports to: Head of Service Delivery

Key Responsibilities 

Coaching   

  • Plan, organise, and deliver engaging physical activity sessions for children of various ages and abilities.   

  • Work with schools, community groups, and camps to tailor sessions to meet their specific needs.  

  • Foster a positive and inclusive environment that encourages all children to participate and enjoy physical activity.   

  • Develop and implement new and creative ways to motivate children and enhance their physical fitness.   

  • Ensure the safety and wellbeing of all participants during activities.   

  • Collaborate with teachers, parents, and other stakeholders to promote the benefits of physical activity.   

  • Maintain and manage equipment and resources effectively.  

  • Work with AYNI Head of Service Delivery and have input into the design and delivery of programmes.   

  • Work with AYNI Head of Service Delivery to onboard new Freelance Coaches  

AYNI Camps    

  • The Head Coach will manage the delivery of AYNI Camps and will be responsible for the smooth and effective execution of the day in accordance with the timetable.    

  • Co-ordinate coaching staff, being ‘front of house’ for parents and children on arrival.   

  • Implement and enforce all AYNI policies; including the policing of photo consent.   

  • Ensure the safety and wellbeing of all participants during activities; including the management of any allergies or medical issues.   

  • Conduct regular coach meetings to communicate expectations, share updates, and address concerns. These should happen at the beginning of the day and at the end, away from all campers and parents.    

  • Be the main face-to-face point of contact for parents during camp.  

Person Specification 

Essential 

  • Fully qualified teacher and/or level 2 coaching award.   

  • 3 years' experience at similar holiday camps or physical activity coaching.   

  • Have experience managing coaches in a similar role  

  • Strong leadership & team development skills.   

  • Knowledge of safeguarding policies & best practices.   

  • Ability to implement policies & procedures effectively.   

Desirable 

  • Level 1 coaching award in a second sport or multi-sport   

  • First aid   

  • Child Protection    

  • Disability coaching award
